Movie Review: Black Swan

This story is about Nina Sayers, a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica who zealously supports her daughter’s professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice.

But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily, who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.

Nina will bring the two roles as the White Swan in Swan Lake so, it is not easy for her if she want to find her portrayal of the Black Swan. Nina will go through her suffering life, such as more sexual, dangerous, mentally, and take the darkness path... She will turn into Black Swan persona.

I was impressed with Black Swan because Natalie did great job so very well because she always bring Nina's character that really make us scared and make us feel pain with her together. I think that Nina would sacrifice her life to give the people what they want Black Swan form to make the beautiful of memorable work of art and she want everyone remember her to become perfect ballerina! We can feel her fear becomes anger and rage when she thinks Lily is taking her part, and it make her transformation into the Black Swan!

I get to know why Natalie Portman won the Best Actress Award! I agreed because she battles an increasingly personal and psychological battle against the darkness inside her! The darkness inside youself that lure you feel confuse and must challenge what you want for youself. It's related with sexual, physically and mentally.

We got the lesson from this movie. I feel about each human have to choose which is the light and darkness at same time if they want to make their dream become true? I think that Nina got much stress since she always practices on everyday. That is why she depressed and start to imagine something that she want to do...

If you want to know about why she chose the path, you should watch this movie!
