A Meaning Of Life: I bought #AirAsiaMAKNA Special AirAsia Edition T-shirts to Raise Awareness of Cancer in Malaysia

AirAsia CEO Aireen Omar presented a cheque for RM120,945.64 to the National Cancer Council’s General Manager, Farahida Mohd Farid in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday afternoon, 18th October 2015 through  a campaign themed #AirAsiaMAKNA where special limited edition T-shirts featuring the iconic AirAsia cabin crew and pilot captain uniform designs were sold to create a wider awareness on cancer.

The limited edition T-shirts, designed by AirAsia staff were sold at RM30 per piece at 23 on-ground locations throughout Malaysia, as well as MAKNA’s online store at its website. All proceeds will be channelled to MAKNA.

First time, I become a part of AirAsia blogger community to help #AirAsiaMAKNA and give the awareness of cancer to my community, especially for my Deaf friends who get to understand the cancer's awareness and share information with them, so they get to know about MAKNA so deeply. If you have have financial problem to support your loved parent or relatives who have cancer disease, please contact MAKNA, and visit their official website at http://makna.org.my/

MAKNA aims to mobilise resources in order to provide curative, preventive, research and support services to cancer patients, their families, high-risk groups, and also the general public within Malaysia and the region. It is the organisation’s mission to fight cancer and reduce related pain, morbidity and the suffering that cancer patients undergo.

Local celebrities turned up to show their support to the #AirAsiaMAKNA campaign as well as to meet the cancer patients, survivors and their family members who have benefited from MAKNA’s initiatives.

The special performance are performed by Maya Karin and her gang.

Aireen Omar, CEO of AirAsia Berhad said, “According to published statistics, 1 out of 4 Malaysians are affected by cancer. We at AirAsia wanted to play a part in educating the general public about early prevention as well as to give back to the community we serve. At every #AirAsiaMAKNA sales location, MAKNA was there to provide information and guideline to the general public, encouraging them to learn and help those in need. In addition, we also leverage on our social media strength to disseminate simple crucial information about cancer. This has been well received by the members of the public”.

MAKNA has done an amazing job in helping cancer patients nationwide for the past two decades, and we hope that the funds raised through this #AirAsiaMAKNA campaign will help them to continue the great work they are doing” she added.

This is my special AirAsia Captain T-shirt! I like it!

We donated RM50 for two AirAsia T-shirts during the presentation #AirAsiaMAKNA because we still remembered our late aunt who become breast cancer patient before.

Want to wear the special limited AirAsia T-shirt? You can also still purchase the special T-shirts at MAKNA’s online store for RM40, which includes the cost of postage. When you get your AirAsia T-shirt, don't forget to wear it and put your social media with #AirAsiaMAKNA, ya!
