0 21st Summer Deaflympics Taipei 2009
Taipei Deaflympics, will start from Sept 5 to 15 on this year. ICSD has confirmed that 3985 athletes from 81 countries who will participate in 20 sport events. First time, I heard about Deaflympics in Taipei when I saw the youtube about Jackie Chan promoted the Deaflympics 2009! It is very nice and colorful event! It leads the Deaf people to meet, communicate, network and socialise with other Deaf people in another countries! :)
As I know, Taipei is the first city in Asia to host the Deaflympics games, marking a historic of Asia on first time. Their idea of slogan is "Power in Me" for the Deaflympics so it is very meaningful for deaf community.
About the history of Deaflympics
The Deaflympics started in 1924 and is the fastest growing multiple sport event in the world. It is a place where deaf people come together and celebrate their differences and compete for gold on an equal playing field against other deaf athletes..For more information, click here
